Les absents

Plate technique. Biscuit porcelain fired at 980°C

In the series “Les absents”, I appropriate memories of people in my family whom I never knew.

I worked on the imprint of everyday objects that belonged to my grandmother.

The shapes are evocative without being precise, the thin layer of porcelain envelops the objects like a shroud, allowing them to be guessed without excessive precision allowing a common projection.

The traces and imprints of objects evoke an absence while summoning a singular presence.

The choice of A4 format means transmission by correspondence but also classification, such as an inventory of evidence.
